There are many types of longhorn beetles and woodworms. The majority can only thrive in damp wood outdoors. But there are also some species that can survive in much drier conditions. Adult longhorn beetles lay their eggs in the grain of wooden beams. From those eggs, hundreds of woodworms emerge that devour the wood in your home.
How much does woodworm control cost?
Exactly how much woodworm control costs depends on many factors. The larger the affected area, the more work is required and the more you will have to pay. Is a single injection sufficient? Can you treat woodworm yourself?
There are many home remedies sold on the market that claim to control woodworm. Grandparents used to swear by vinegar or petroleum. Unfortunately, all these products are not strong enough to actually drive woodworm out of your home.
These remedies do not penetrate deeply enough into the wood, while most woodworms are located in the core of the wood. You can temporarily prevent a woodworm infestation from increasing in size, but you are actually only treating the symptoms and not the cause of the problem. Treating woodworm yourself is therefore not recommended. In the core of the wood, the woodworms continue to eat diligently.
